IN response to Why is govt silent about the COVID-19 vaccine?, SHUMBA says: The government has not been sincere in as far as the fight against COVID-19 is concerned. The lockdown has been used for political expedience other than fighting the virulent disease. If the government was serious about fighting COVID-19, it should have arrested several top government officials, such as Health deputy minister John Mangwiro, who have been implicated in criminal abuse of office in the procurement of personal protective equipment. Could it be a case that the President Emmerson Mnangagwa-led government is afraid of losing grip of power over the people because they have been using COVID-19-induced lockdown as a weapon of silencing dissent.

IN response to Council shuts water treatment plant, SHANGWA says: As the residents, we are aware that the Zanu PF government, through the Local Government ministry is throwing spanners in the works of the Harare City Council. The government is abusing the Urban Councils Act to suffocate council operations. The endgame is to appoint a commission to run the affairs of all urban councils which are in the hands of the opposition. The arrest of Harare mayor Jacob Mafume is the grand plan. This is the reason why all the directors and town clerk are also facing trumped up charges.

IN response to Zanu PF goes after nurses, RANGA says: This government has no shame. The nurses took their case to court and won it twice. But Zanu PF, because of reasons known to it is refusing to honour court judgments. Where is the rule of law? It seems Zanu PF has not changed its old ways. The party is still maintaining its hardline stance against critical voices. However, the Zanu PF government is shooting itself in the foot. Sanctions will not be removed unless the government respects the rule of law. It is not a criminal offence to speak evil against a government.

IN response to MDC-T to hold decentralised extra-ordinary congress, RUREGU says: The chickens are coming home to roost. While there is need to comply with COVID-19 protocols, it is going to be difficult to manage the process. Chances are high that the party will emerge from the congress weaker after a disputed election outcome. Anyway, let the party devour itself, it serves no purpose to Zimbabwe.
