Billiat irreplaceable: Mchichwa
KAIZER Chiefs former player Rabson Mchichwa believes Khama Billiat’s two month lay-off owing to an injury is a disaster for the club as he is the mainstay in the team.
Amakhosi have performed dismally in the South African topflight, with only two wins, four draws in and four defeats in 10 outings and Billiat has scored just one goal and provided three assists.
He was not part of the side which registered the team’s second win of the season on Wednesday beating, AmaZulu 1-0 as he began his rehabilitation following the injury in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Maritzburg United.
Mchichwa believes his countryman Billiat is the chief marksman at Naturena and he is irreplaceable.
He told SoccerLaduma Chiefs woulwd struggle without Billiat.
“It’s a big blow, I don’t want to lie. Chiefs are not playing well and Khama Billiat is out for all these weeks. I don’t want to lie, it’s a disaster,” Muchichwa said.
He, however, said it was a good opportunity for someone else to prove their worth and show they could fit into Billiat’s boots.
“It’s a big blow because he is the marksman, but it’s also a blessing in disguise for someone who is looking for that opportunity. Khama is a game winner, so if you lose a player like that it’s a disaster. Khama is a player who you don’t take out of the game even if he is not doing well,” Mchichwa said.
“He is someone who can change the game for you in two minutes. But now when it’s like, it’s going to be tough. I don’t know who is going to come replace him because I don’t see any replacement for Khama at Chiefs.”
Billiat suffered a crack on the leg bone against Maritzburg after being instrumental for Chiefs to sail through to the group stages of the Caf Champions League when they beat Angola’s Primerio de Agosto 1-0 a few days earlier.
Kaizer Chiefs are away to Cape Town City today in a league match. Fears are Billiat might also not be available for Warriors when the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers resume in March due to the injury.
