IN response to Zacc seeks 15% of forfeited assets value, TINOENDEPI MWADIWA says: Is this not a way of creating a looting loophole? Once the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) does that, it ceases to be independent. It might end up grabbing assets without genuine cause because it simply wants to raise more money to fund its operations. Ideally, it becomes a conflicted entity. Zacc will start to award its employees hefty salaries, buy state-of-the-art vehicles, houses, give its employees interest-free loans and tuition fees. A big no! Its funding should be allocated through Treasury like any other government department. If it is true that Zacc made that pronouncement, it is likely to open a can of worms.

IN response to Govt gazettes Harare’s new burial, water charges, MR SIDDY says: How can a whole minister be involved in such petty issues? How is our country going to develop when the Local Government minister is involved in day-to-day council operations? Where is the mayor? Is this a joke? Why is the government hiking water and refuse collection charges when our cities are full of uncollected and rotting garbage? Some households last received tap water several years ago. How does one charge for a non-existent service? This does not make sense. I am not sure if the minister knows the level of suffering people are enduring in the country. This rate hike is likely to trigger non-payment of bills. This is a very sad situation Zimbabweans find themselves in.

IN response to Civil servants reject 25% salary hike, MURUME WE NDEBVU says: Please, respect the civil servants. Pay them decent salaries that can sustain their lives. In the past week, we saw a huge increase in basic commodity prices, hence making ends meet has become a hassle if not hell. Dignify civil servants, no to slave wages.

IN response to Govt rules out Gweru Hospital upgrade, MUKARANGA says: Our government is good at making empty promises. Since the government had promised that it would give Gweru Provincial Hospital a “massive facelift” to qualify to be a referral hospital, it should stand by its words. The hospital serves the whole of Midlands province. We are tired of travelling to Harare for surgery and other minor medical procedures when we have our own hospital here.
