IN response to Teachers give notice to strike, PIKIRAYI says: I doubt the strike will change anything considering that government has, in the past, ignored any such threats. What is needed now is a collective effort by all civil servants as well as those in the private sector to stage a nationwide demonstration to force authorities to improve the general working conditions of all workers in the country.

IN response to Mthuli under fire over COVID-19 bailout loan, GWIZHIKITI says: What raises eyebrows is that Mbano Manor Hotel was opened by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and I suspect he has interests in the state-of-the-art facility. Why should that hotel get so much money and for what purpose? Mnangagwa should be ashamed of himself. The same goes for the 55% foreign currency bidders — “other companies and individuals” — not mentioned in a Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Press statement. The 55% got US$348,6 million of the allocations. They need to be named, everyone needs to be named. We demand transparency.

IN response to ED moves to pardon prisoners, MBUDAYA says: Kudos to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for moving to pardon prisoners and decongest the correctional facilities. What is worrying is that many of those pardoned will be shunned by society, fail to get jobs, find the going tough in this bad economy and end up going back to crime, which will see them back inside in a few weeks’ time.

IN response to Chinese vaccine safe, envoy insists, MAZVANYA says: Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, Gu Shaochun should not bother to reiterate that his country’s vaccine is safe. I think by now, the Sinopharm vaccine has marketed itself and instilled confidence to the sceptical world, considering some lowend products produced by the Chinese. This is the time for China to overtake other superpowers and show that its products are the real deal. Its 5G network products started it all, and now its COVID-19 vaccine should put everything to bed.

IN response to ‘No govt bailout for schools’, NDABANENGI says: It’s funny that school authorities thought they would get something from government. Our government leaders only put money where there are rich pickings.
