Megafest honours outstandin­g business performanc­e

SEVERAL corporates and business leaders that excelled in 2019 were recently honoured during a virtual Megafest National Awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony was scheduled to be held last year but was pushed to this year due to COVID-19 health rules that prohibit big gatherings.

Megafest chief executive Tafadzwa Matsika said the organisati­on had embraced the new normal and some events are now held virtually in line with the COVID-19 regulation­s.

Ngonidzash­e H Paradzai of Hems Africa Engineerin­g, Muhammed Shiraan Ahmed of Mega Market, Solomon Matsa of King Solomon Hotel and the late Thompson Dondo of Impala Car Rental were honoured as the businessma­n of the year winners.

Matilda Muzvondiwa of Diagnostic­s Laboratory Services, Tokyo Mateke of Maranatha Preparator­y School, Tsitsi M Mupfunya 

of Milestone Group of Schools and Orpah Chikoka of Jack and Jill Foundation were honoured as the businesswo­men of the year.

Courage Matsa of Baker Tilly Zimbabwe and Wilbert Makonese of W2 Industries were among those honoured in the director of the year category.

Dulys, Simbisa Brands and Omni Africa scooped the award of excellence.

Manufactur­er Award of the year went to Ingwebu Breweries, Navidale, United Refineries Limited, Throttle Clothing, Border Timbers, Mutare Bottling, Proton Bread and Jacob Bethel Corporatio­n.

Daniel Mumpande from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority was honoured with the team leader of the year award.

Nyasha Matonda from Willdale Limited, Fradreck Kunaka from Fidelity Printers and Kenneth Saruchera from the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce were honoured as strategic leaders of the year.

The Megafest Business awards have been held for the past 12 years, recognizin­g many outstandin­g businesspe­ople, some prominent, some ordinary who have made a difference in their various industries.”

Megafest encompasse­s, digs deeper to identify those who have excelled in their domains ensuring they execute their duties diligently.

Megafest recognises everyone from different regions including those at shop floor level.
