Dealing with sin consciousness

- Erasmus Makarimayi • All Bible quotations are from the King James Version unless otherwise stated. • Fellowship with Pastor Makarimayi on Facebook and on www. twitter.com/PEMAKARIMAYI.

IN His High Priestly prayer before His sacrificial death, Jesus notes in John 17:23, “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” Our Father loved and loves Jesus and also us.

This is a complete repudiation of the modern theological view of the Father God and throws into disarray all religious gibberish. When we know Him as a loving and tender Father who longs for our fellowship because He lives in us, the whole picture is changed. Relationship teaching has never been given its place. We have never thought of ourselves as the very sons and daughters of God.

Let’s look at our adoption as sons and daughters closely. An adopted child is not a real child and never can be. The natural conclusion for a sin conscious Christian is; I am not worthy. This, of course, is what the devil wants you to believe and confess which is a smack in the face of the finished work of Christ.

The child of God is not only recreated and born of the Spirit of God. She/he is also legally adopted. Romans 8:15 writes, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” She/he has a double relationship, ie a legal relationship and a vital relationship with the Father God. The New Creation fact has never been brought to the front. There’s no basis for doubting our relationship with God the Father.

We’re new creation according to the Bible. The old things connected with the “fallen Adamic nature” are passed away. The old things of doubt, fear, and bondage to sickness and want have passed away. Let’s check it in Romans 6:5-11, “[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: [6] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. [7] For he that is dead is freed from sin. [8] Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: [9] Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. [10] For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. [11] Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Please let’s live the Scriptures. Let’s rise to the level of our place in Christ, and declare our freedom as extensively dealt with in my previous instalment.

We have become the Righteousness

of God in Him. However religion and mischief makers without the right to be behind the church pulpit have been making us live as slaves when we ought to reign as kings. We yielded without a fight when we heard that the adversary roar about our unworthiness to stand in God’s presence. Everytime we confess our weakness, we spurn the finished work of Christ and belittle our own position and standing in Christ. Saturate your mind unapologetically with the truth that you’re in Christ and free from sin bondage. The mind must be fully satisfied with the evidence of new creation; redemption from Satan’s dominion and an emancipation from sin. This can only come to us through the Word. The scriptures in this study absolutely settle that issue. The sin problem stops being a problem the moment we know what we are in Christ. Faith is a problem only to those who are ignorant of their rights and privileges, and their place in Christ.

Hebrews 1:3-4, Amplified, hammer it in, “[3] The Son is the radiance [and] only expression of the glory of [our awesome] God [reflecting God's Shekinah glory, the Light-being, the brilliant light of the divine], and the exact representation [and] perfect imprint of His [Father's] essence, and upholding [and] maintaining [and] propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal]. When He [Himself and no other] had [by offering Himself on the cross as a sacrifice for sin] accomplished purification from sins [and] established our freedom from guilt, He sat down [revealing His completed work] at the right hand of the Majesty on high [revealing His Divine authority], [4] having become as much superior to angels, since He has inherited a more excellent [and] glorious name than they [that is, Son — the name above all names].”

Jesus could not have been accepted by the Father and been given that seat at the Father’s right hand unless He had made possible the new creation, a perfect fellowship and a perfect standing with the Father for all who believe on (in) Him.

However, we still see some ignorant around us worshiping angels like Gabriel. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
