Manicaland commends Megafest Holdings
MEGAFEST Holdings have been commended for promoting, recognising and motivating local entrepreneurs who have been excelling in the business fraternity since its formation 13 years ago.
Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Nokuthula Matsikenyere in a speech read on her behalf at the Megafest Eastern region awards on May 21 said: “As a province, we are very much excited with the new dawn and hope that the current government has brought to the people of Zimbabwe through investment promotion and forward looking policies, which include the Transitional Stabilisation Programme and the current National Developmental Strategy 1 (NDS1).”
Megafest was challenged to remain focussed, resolute and spread its wings even to the remotest areas of the province.
“In light of the opportunities emerging from globalisation and regional integration, I challenge you to spread your wings in the region. The business community is proud to be associated with such a brand that has taken a very positive look regardless of the challenges which have been affecting our economy in the past few years,” she added.
At the awards ceremony, soap and cooking oil manufacturer Willowton Group Zimbabwe’s chief executive officer Bruce Henderson was named the region’s businessman of the year, while Manica Sky View director Racheal Mugwagwa scooped the businesswoman of the year gong.
Other winners were Esau Mupfumi of Chinjekure Enteprises, who emerged victorious in the director of the year category. He shrugged off competition from Mary Nyambuya of Njanike Construction who came second, George Hove of Mongrel Investments who came third and Wattle Company’s Joseph Musemwe came fourth.
The Manufacturer of the Year award was won by Border Timbers while Wattle Company, Mutare Propshafts Centre and Silkwood Manufacturing emerged second, third and fourth, respectively.
The Manicaland awards were the last round of regional awards ahead of the national finals slated for July 1, 2021 in Harare.
