FAST bowler Blessing Muzarabani (pictured) reached the Pakistan Super League final in his debut appearance at the T20 tournament after his side coached by Zimbabwe cricket legend Andy Flower, Multan Sultans beat Islamabad by 31 runs in Abu Dhabi on Monday night.

The final is set for tomorrow at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Muzarabani starred with the ball, taking three wickets for 31 runs in his allotted four overs as the Sultans got their revenge on a side that beat them by four wickets last Friday.

However, the Zimbabwean was beaten to the man of the match gong by teammate Sohail Tanvir who finished with figures of 3/17.

The result meant that the Sultans reach the PSL final, which has a US$600 000 winner’s cheque on the line, for the first time in the five-year history of the lucrative competition.

The Sultans could still face Islamabad

United, the most successful team in the tournament following their triumph at the inaugural event as well as in 2018, who were scheduled to face Peshawar Zalmi in a play off last night.

The winner of the tie books a place in the final.

Peshawar Zalmi dumped defending champions Karachi Kings by five wickets on Monday.

Muzarabani is the only Zimbabwean playing in the PSL this year after joining Sultans two weeks ago as a replacement for Obed McCoy from West Indies who suffered a back injury.

And with Muzarabani playing, Sultans have won four of their last five matches with the 24-year-old seam bowler constantly contributing wickets in every encounter he has featured in.

The death bowling specialist has claimed an overall eight wickets in the PSL and will be looking to carry on with the purple patch in the championship decider and guide his team to a historic win.

Sultans were not part of the inaugural tournament back in 2016 since the team which was only established in 2017 did not exist, but they have been part of the event in the last four editions.

Last season was Sultans’ previous best performance in the PSL when they finished third best and will be looking to join the winners’ list which include Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.

Muzarabani will also make history by becoming the first Zimbabwean to win the competition.
