‘Need to give our best to get a good result in Zimbabwe’

-

BANGLADESH pacer Taskin Ahmed realised that the Tigers would need to give their best to extract a good result in their current tour of Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh do not possess a record worthy of boasting while playing away to Zimbabwe as the Tigers suffered a 2-1 defeat in one-day internationals (ODIs) while drawing both the Test and T20I series 1-1 during their last visit in the country for a full series back in 2013.

That series also included a humiliating 355run thumping of the Tigers in the first Test in Harare, venue of all the fixtures of the upcoming series.

Taskin also admitted that the Tigers will need to be at their best if they want to better their away records against Zimbabwe in the upcoming full series which will begin with the lone Test, starting from July 7, followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is.

“It is not easy to play against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe. We will have to play good cricket and face good opposition in tough conditions. We need to give our best to get a good result,” said Taskin after their second practice session at the Harare Sports Club today.

The Mominul Haque-led Test side reached Harare on Tuesday and following a rest day, the Tigers have had two practice sessions so far.

They will also be playing a two-day practice game starting from tomorrow at the Takashinga Sports Club ground before playing the lone Test on July 7.

Taskin, who missed playing the Super League stage of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League last month due to a hand injury, mentioned that they would be having sufficient practice ahead of the series.

“We have had good practice sessions. The bowlers, batsmen — everyone is preparing accordingly. We will also play a practice match tomorrow. So, I don’t think there will be any complaints regarding practice before the series,” Taskin added.
