CHIEF Tshovani of Chiredzi, born Hlaisi Mundau (75), succumbed to COVID-19 complications while admitted at Colin Saunders Hospital in Triangle yesterday morning.

This was confirmed by Chiredzi district development co-ordinator Lovemore Chisema, who described his death as a loss as he was one of the long-serving chiefs in the country.

“He was a proponent of development in the district,” Chisema said.

He said after assuming reins in 1995, Chief Tshovani promoted the Shangaan culture, which included resuscitating the practice of circumcision in promoting the fight against HIV and Aids.
