IN response to ED orders schools reopening, BONGANE KUNENE says: Schools cannot be closed forever guys, the virus is here to stay. There is need to come up with stop-gap measures so that our children can go back to school. Learning should continue. Our children must not be punished, but protected.

MAXWELL MEKE KARE says: Several teachers have succumbed to COVID-19, especially during this winter, so it is advisable to reopen schools when it is a bit warm. I think government should reopen schools in mid-August. A delay of two weeks will greatly help. We cannot afford to risk our children’s lives for the sake of education.

CAREN C KAWADZA says: I, for one, was comfortable with children going back to school during the second wave, but not now when we have the Delta variant that is infecting children. That this new variant is affecting even children sends a chill down our spines as parents. Government should monitor the situation for at least two weeks and take that opportunity to fully equip teachers with personal protective equipment.

CDE GUYU says: Somehow it makes sense for government to order the reopening of the Victoria Falls and Kazungula Border Post. I suppose this is meant to open up the tourism sector, but how will the tourists come in when intercity travel remains banned? If government can allow Victoria Falls businesses to reopen because most of the citizens there have been inoculated, I think authorities can also allow individuals who received the full vaccine to roam around freely.

IN response to MDC Alliance members fire Mwonzora, GARAIPASI says: Some of us saw this coming. MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora was becoming too big-headed. He was unilaterally making decisions, instead of consulting MDC Alliance principals. Now that he is out in the sun, he should understand that it is cold out there.

IN response to Govt spends $120 million on lunch, RANGA KOSORAI says: This is ridiculous. Spending $120 million on daily allowances and lunch for health professionals at a time when public hospitals have run out of essential drugs is enough testimony that we are being led by greedy people. This also flies in the face of Finance minister Mthui Ncube who is always preaching about austerity measures. Charity should begin at home.
