Zaoga succession issue cause for concern in the body of Christ

- Rabbi Shanobi

IF what is doing rounds in the social media concerning the succession issue in Zaoga church is to be taken seriously, then the church is heading for trouble.

The succession issue has been a problem from the time of creation. I would like to advise Ezekiel Guti to let God decide.

If he allows the human mind to decide for him, it will be catastrophic.

If Zaoga was started by God, thus God should anoint his successor. If it was started by man, then he will anoint a successor on his choice. There is no middle ground.

We do not want to see Zaoga going the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) route — splitting. The body of Christ is still reeling from the effects of the AFM split.

The ideal Christian leadership succession model is that of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nigeria.

The church was founded in 1952 by Pastor Akindayomi.

He kept the name of his successor a secret until after his death in 1980 where it was discovered that he had appointed a man who joined the church less than nine years ago. He appointed one EA Adeboye to succeed him.

When he took over, there were other high-ranking pastors who had been in the ministry for over 20 years.

Some of them were so angry that they left the church.

The church is owned by God, it is not a personal dynasty like what we are seeing happening all over the world. So Guti should not be misled by people, after all, what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?

If it is God who has sustained Guti for over 60 years in ministry, then He will choose a successor, just like He did with Joshua.

All those who are making noise should shut up and wait upon the Lord.

There are people out there captured by the devil who pretend to be God-fearing when they are ravaging wolves.

My plea to Guti is that he has waited upon the Lord for all those years, now is the time to put his ears to the ground and seek the intervention of the Lord on the succession issue.

Be very careful, I repeat, be very careful.

Forewarned is forearmed.
