IN response to ED in another midair scare, LESLIE ZIYANAI DUMBA says: It is unfortunate that schoolchildren were forced to miss lessons to wait for President Emmerson Mnangagwa for hours on end in the scorching sun. The fact that he arrived late in the day meant that the whole day went to waste. This is heartless because the children of top government officials are sent to top schools in foreign lands, thus they do not take part in such activities.

CHURU says: It is high time President Emmerson Mnangagwa stopped using those choppers. They have outlived their lifespan. But because of our roads, he has no choice except to use the rickety helicopters.

CHENAI says: In the first place, there was no need for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to travel to Chimanimani to officially open a small stretch of road. In order to save resources, Mnangagwa could have sent Transport minister Felix Mhona to cut the ribbon. Mnangagwa can’t be everywhere. Why not delegate? We know he wants to appear to be doing something in terms of developing the country. But there is no need for him to go to such extremes.

IN response to Nurse steals COVID-19 test kits from State House, CHOFAMBA says: There is a principle of law that says the law does not concern itself with trifles: de minimis non curat lex — “if a technical violation of a law appears to exist according to the letter of the law, if the effect is too small to be of consequence, the violation of the law will not be considered as a sufficient cause of action, whether in civil or criminal proceedings.” It is obvious that this needless action was taken, costing the taxpayer needlessly, simply because of who the owner of the clinic is.

IN response to Lobby groups advocate for wealth tax, GOODHOPE CHIBIKA says: Lobby group, Zimbabwe Fight Inequality Alliance, must fight corruption and looting, especially of natural resources. Inequality is exacerbated by nepotism, corruption and looting. We have countable wealthy people whose tax contribution cannot sustain the poor, but our natural resources can!

IN response to School heads forced to attend Zanu PF induction, MAI RURU says: Zimbabwe needs to reform its public sector. This ruling party/government conflation is detrimental to service provision. Instead, heads should be provided with capacity-building training so that they run schools professionally. This is a new low!
