⬤Launches direct nostro payments for medical aid cover for families back home

-

Zimbabweans living in the diaspora are now be able to pay medical aid cover for their loved ones back home directly into a maisha Health Fund nostro account.

The new service, whose premiums are paid in foreign currency (mainly in United states dollars), will help Zimbabweans access quality private health care without having to worry about the erosion of medical cover through inflation.

ecoCash Holdings chief executive eddie Chibi says the group introduced the latest medical cover after realising that most people in the diaspora bear much of the financial burden when their loved ones back home fall sick and are in need of medical treatment.

“Distance should not be a barrier when it comes to caring for our loved ones. as ecoCash Holdings, our job is to use digital solutions to improve the welfare of every citizen,” he said.

“we want fellow countrymen living in the diaspora to have seamless access to medical solutions that enable them to get their families and relatives in Zimbabwe adequate medical cover and access to reputable hospitals in-country, should they fall ill.”

The new packages are expected to eliminate the risk of skipping premiums, with those living outside the country able to pay directly to the maisha Health Fund nostro account, rather than sending money back home and asking relatives to pay the premiums on their behalf.

an estimated 2,5 to three million Zimbabweans live in the diapora, in countries such as south africa, the United Kingdom, australia, the United states and new Zealand, among others.

according to official figures, Zimbabweans living abroad last year remitted Us$1 billion back home, making diaspora remittances a growing source of forex helping the economy.

maisha Health Fund managing director Hazel banza said the Us dollar-denominated packages allows members access to specialist doctors and surgeries, as also gives chronic cover, dental cover, and optical cover, along with radiology and pathology services and special healthcare equipment.

it also offers a hospital cash back plan, among many other benefits.

“we are encouraging Zimbabweans in the diaspora to sign up their families for medical aid cover and pay the funds directly into our nedbank Us$ account,” banza said.

“This way they won’t need to worry about premiums not being paid, the process of sending money home or who should do the payment to the medical aid on their behalf.”

To register for the medical aid cover, Zimbabweans living anywhere in the world are simply required to complete a membership application form on maisha Health website, or download the form from https:// maishahealth.co.zw/onlineform.

They then need to pay into the maisha Health Fund nostro account, to activate the policy before sending proof of payment and completed application form via email to membership@ maishahealthfund.co.zw.

maisha Health Fund has a track record of delivering innovative solutions that drive medical insurance inclusion across the country.
