Triangle anticipating tough contest against Rhinos

TRIANGLE United coach Jairos Tapera is expecting a tough contest when his side takes on Black Rhinos in a league match at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare tomorrow.

Tapera is hoping that injured players Arnold Chiveya and James Mukombwe will recover in time for the game.

“Preparations are going on well. Hopefully two of our injured players, Arnold Chiveya and James Mukombwe, will pass late fitness tests,” he said.

“We have respect for Black Rhinos. They have been in this competition for some time, they also started preparations for the league earlier and they have never lost to Triangle.”

However, Tapera has confidence in his side after it beefed up with a number of young players who are eager to bring positive results.

“We have a squad full of novices, they are pushing and hopefully we will do well. We might be forced to change depending on the availability of those injured if they recover in time,” he said.

On the other hand, Black Rhinos coach Herbert Maruwa is wary of his opponents and hopes his side can play to the best of its ability.

“We are ready for the game and Triangle are no pushovers. We need to be at our best,” he said.

“Triangle is a team with a new coach, new players and they want to make a mark. As Black Rhinos, we have our own targets. Number one target is to collect maximum points and make sure we catch up with the leading pack.”

Tapera joined Triangle in January from Black Rhinos as he replaced Taurai Mangwiro, whose contract had expired in December.

Both teams played to goalless draws in their previous matches last weekend and will seek to register a win in their encounter tomorrow.
