AFTER months of rigorous preparations, Kudakwashe “Take Money” Chiwandire’s big day has arrived where she could ace it or blow it in her potentially life-changing bout against Zambia’s Catherine Phiri.

The two will this evening trade rubber as they tussle for the World Boxing Council (WBC) World Interim Bantamweight title.

The fight will be held at the Lusaka government complex at 9pm.

Chiwandire is facing a competitive opponent who is also the first female boxer to hold the WBC title in Africa after her victory in Mexico seven years ago.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport, the 25-year-old was bubbling with confidence especially after their weigh-in yesterday.

Phiri weighed 55,1kg while Chiwandire was 55,85kg before she had to shed off some 30.

“I am more than ready to face my opponent and I have seen her today (yesterday). I look more physical than her,” Chiwandire said.

“I know what is ahead of me, so to my fans victory is certain, I will not disappoint. I have prepared for this fight for a long time and it is now time to produce the results.”

Chiwandire arrived in Lusaka on Wednesday afternoon in the company of her coach Clyde Musonda.

The pugilist has been in camp for the past two months.

Chiwandire will make history as she has become the first Zimbabwean female boxer to contest for a top WBC belt.

And if she claims the belt, that would even be a bigger piece of history for her.

Musonda could also not hide his confidence in Chiwandire and promised the supporters to look forward to positive results.
