Types of agro-chemicals, advantages

-

AGRO-CHEMICALS or agri-chemicals is a common name given to chemicals that are used in agriculture, to aid plants and crops growth and safety.

Farming is an important part of the agricultural field and plays an important role in everyone’s life, as food is a basic need for every living being over the planet.

So it’s important to deliver healthy and innoxious crops, fruits, and vegetables for all the living organisms.

However, to protect these crops and vegetables from insects, while farming is really important, so the different types of chemical substance used to protect crops during farming is called agro-chemicals.

Agro-chemicals are the chemical products that include pesticides, fertilizer, and insecticides, used to improve the production of crops and vegetables.

All products have different effects on insects and undesirable plants which cause harmful effects to the crops.

Let’s check out different types of agro-chemicals and their effects on the farming industry:

Mostly agro-chemicals are referred to as pesticides which include herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, insecticides and nematicides. Below are the uses and effects of individual agro-chemicals:

● Pesticides: This is the chemical substance used to control pests, insects, and unwanted plants like weeds. This is also used to kill mosquitos in public locations for health concerns.

● Insecticides: These are the special chemical components, especially used to target and destroy insects which is harmful to the crops. The most commonly used insecticides are organophosphate, carbamates, organochlorines and pyrethroids.

● Herbicides: Herbicides are used to kill unwanted plants like weeds and herbs, these herbicides kill targeted plants, leaving crops to grow safely. Gramoxone and glyphosate are the most common herbicides.

● Fungicides: Fungicides are the special types of the chemical substance used to destroy fungal disease. Mankocide is one of the types of fungicides used to kill fungal diseases.

● Fertilizers: Fertilizers are available in two categories — organic and inorganic. The fertilizers are the substance that is being used to improve the quality of soil, by improving the quantity of the nutrients in it. It’s spread where the farming is done. The inorganic fertilizer is also used as synthetic fertilizer.

Advantages of agro-chemicals in farming:

● Agro-chemicals have lowered the rate of health issues that were caused by insects found in crops and vegetables.

● The farmers can grow more crops per acre and for a longer period, which increases the global food supply.

● The use of herbicides has made it easier to manage unwanted plants and reduced the effort of removing unwanted plants with hands, saving a lot of time and energy for farmers.

● With the use of agro-chemicals, quality and quantity of the crops is improved.

● An increase in the number of crops also benefits farmers financially.

Agro-chemicals have become the basic need of the farming industry, which has increased the quality and quantity of crops. If agro-chemicals are not used, it may create huge damage to the crops which would cause financial loss to the farmers.

Choosing the correct agro-chemicals according to the soil and crop requirements also plays an important role here, because if the wrong agrochemical is selected it may cause damage to crops and the soil.
