Bosso pick Caps’ weakness

HIGHLANDERS have picked on Caps United’s weakness in the defence and are hoping to capitalise on that when the two giants clash in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Sunday.

Bosso are particularly desperate for points, moreso with coach Mandla Mpofu sitting on an ultimatum to win or face the axe.

Mpofu yesterday chose not to face the media and delegated the duties to his assistant Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu.

Mpofu was given a sevenpoint target from three matches and so far he has managed to collect four points and needs nothing short of a win to guarantee his job security.

Ndlovu told the media that everything had gone well for them so far as they look to follow up on their impressive win over Herentals at the weekend.

“Everything is on track from what I have seen at training. The spirits are high, may be we got a win the other Sunday. So far everything looks positive. Caps United are a good team with an experienced coach and they have a lot of experienced players. It has not been easy for us to beat them in the past, but coming from our victory on Sunday I think the boys’ confidence is very high. Caps United have struggled from the start but now they are beginning to pick up points,” Ndlovu said.

He added: “From what I have seen, they are a team which has got experience but they concede a lot of goals. In one game, they conceded six and that on its own is a big weakness which shows they might be weak defensively and we will take advantage of that if we play our cards right. Caps United are a team that concedes a lot of goals and we are a team that creates a lot of opportunities, so you can imagine. I predict a win for us,” Ndlovu said.

Since 2010, Highlanders have won 20% of their matches against Caps United who have won 40% of the clashes, while 40% of their contests ended in draws.

Highlanders currently sit on 11th position on the PSL log table, while Caps are on eighth and 10 points respectively and both will be desperate to improve their points return.
