NEWLY-APPOINTED Highlanders assistant coach Joel Luphahla has said he is not coming into the club as a saviour, but hopes that he can help Bosso improve on their Castle Lager Premier League table position.

Bosso have so far won two matches from eight and sit on 11th position on the log, having slipped to 10 points behind leaders Chicken Inn.

The Bulawayo giants went into the season with high optimism, especially after they found new sponsors in Sakunda Holdings.

But things have not gone smoothly for coach Mandla Mpofu, prompting the club to strengthen the technical team with the roping in of Luphahla, who was doing well with Northern Region Division One side Golden Eagles, whom he parted ways with this weeK.

Luphahla’s arrival has been greeted with optimism and the former Warriors attacker hopes he can help the team climb the ladder.

Speaking at a Press conference while flanked by head coach Mpofu, midfielder Adrian Silla and defender Andrew Mbeba, Luphahla said he will try his best to improve Bosso’s fortunes.

“I can assure the coach (Mpofu) that I am going to give it 150% effort. If it was not by his blessing I was not going to be here. We need to be in a better position on the log. At Highlanders, that is what we do. We are never a midtable team, so we need to make sure we improve. I watched the game against Caps United over the weekend and from what I saw we have a good team that is going

through a bad patch. We have to build from there,” Luphahla said.

He added: “I am hoping that my coming in will help the young boys. I am not coming here as a saviour or I have something special, but with the little that I have gained out there will help this club. I am hoping that my coming here will raise the spirits of the boys. It is not going to be easy. We are always motivated. I have played for Tsholotsho coming to play versus Highlanders and you don’t even need the coach or anything. You are always motivated because this is a big institution. It’s the biggest institution on the land, so on Sunday this other team that is coming here will be motivated to play at Barbourfields Stadium against Highlanders.”
