Caps wary of bogey side Herentals

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe, looking to build on his team’s impressive display in the drawn game against Highlanders last week, has urged his troops to take a cautious approach as they face bogey side Herentals.

The Green Machine were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Bulawayo giants Highlanders at the National Sports Stadium last week in a match that left fans clamouring for more.

Although they could not secure the three points they envisaged, they were emboldened by their fabulous display against an equally impressive Highlanders side.

And Chitembwe has been gladdened by the spirit in the changing room since that impressive show against Bosso.

“The spirit in the team is excellent. The attitude is just out of this world and if there is anything we have improved as a team, it is the attitude. Our preparations have gone on very well, but Herentals are tough opponents. They have given us problems in the past. But I think we are in the right place that we really want to be in and are looking forward to the match,” Chitembwe said.

The Caps United gaffer also said apart from injured Marshal Machazane, he had all his players available for the clash.*

The Green Machine have also been boosted by the return of midfielder Devon Chafa, who missed the drawn game against Highlanders after complaining of a stomach ache.

The absence of the veteran midfielder enforcer who usually plays alongside Tatenda Tavengwa, forced Chitembwe to pick forward Rodwell Chinyengetere to play deep in midfield to fill in the gap.

But the Green Machine will have to roll up their sleeves against a Herentals side which has thus far made a statement of their intentions with just two defeats in eight matches. That brave performance has thrust the Students in sixth place on the log table with 14 points, five behind leaders Chicken Inn. Herentals are incentivised by their convincing 3-1 victory over the Green Machine in the teams’ last league meeting two years ago with the other match ending in a 1-1 stalemate.

Of the eight matches that they have clashed, Herentals have won four of those while, Caps came out tops in only two with the others ending in draws.
