celebrating the 42nd anniversary of Zimbabwe's Independence Day under the beĕtting theme “Zim@ 42 – Leaving no one and no place behind.”
e historic 42nd Independence Day commemorations which, for the ĕrst time in the history of the nation will be held outside Harare, attest to the Second Republic's avowed commitment to devolution, decentralisation and national unity in both word and deed. It is not
lost on us that the pursuit of equitable development which undergirds the principle of
devolution and decentralisation regardless of regional conĕguration remains the mantra of the New Dispensation which strives for inclusivity. is accords well with the fact that our gallant sons and daughters of the soil who paid the ultimate price for every Zimbabwean, including those in the hinterland, to enjoy the fruits of the unfettered freedom denied us by the
racialized colonial system.
As the supreme representative institution which
ought to boldly stand for the hopes, ideals and aspirations of every Zimbabwean without exception, Parliament of Zimbabwe strongly identiĕes with the Second Republic's thrust towards embracive national unity, equitable and sustainable development. Accordingly, as we
celebrate 42 years of our hard-won independence, Parliament of Zimbabwe recommits itself to “Leave no one and no place
behind” in fulĕlling its legislative, oversight and representative mandate.
Congratulations!
Makorokoto!
Amhlophe!
Long live Zimbabwe!
Long live our cherished independence!
