Sharpe clinches Businessman of the Year award
BORN in the midst of the civil war in Zimbabwe which catapulted him to an era of social change founder of WestProp Group Zimbabwe, Kenneth Sharpe has defied all odds and firmly established himself as a property mogul.
An astute leader with several awards, Sharpe recently bagged the 2021 Businessman of the Year accolade at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce awards (Mashonaland chapter).
As a young entrepreneur, Sharpe founded a real estate group in 1991 which he has grown today to become a large diverse company, with its focus, since 2006, in real estate and property development in Zimbabwe.
He has many years of extensive senior management experience in running dozens of companies that have included food distribution, beverage bottling as well as chairing various operating management teams and boards of directors and shareholders.
He has had more than 20 partnerships and shareholdings in businesses in Zimbabwe, South Africa and internationally.
The businessman and his company have won awards for Best Businessman and Company of the Year award as well as named among the Zimbabwe Top Business Brands respectively.
Sharpe made history when he became the first ever Zimbabwean to receive the Forbes Best of Africa Most Innovative CEO award in 2021.
His focus and passion for Africa is to drive poverty alleviation, job creation and transformational development through foreign direct investment, hence his previous involvement in the World Economic Forum and the Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) as the Doing Business in Africa chairperson.
The businessman supports various orphanages and youth projects as he readily acknowledges that Africa has the biggest youth on any continent.
He has over the years been investing in real estate in Ukraine and through his partnership in Global BP solutions based in Dallas, he has a vision of creating employment for over 20 000 people in Africa and Ukraine where highly educated and skilled staff can be outsourced and remotely located.
