CYPRIANO Electrical chief executive officer, Mr Edmore Cyprianos has won Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce — Matabeleland chapter Businessman of the Year award for 2016.
He was honoured at a colourful ceremony held on Friday night in Bulawayo where the owner of Camp Amalinda Safari lodge, Mrs Sharon Stead was also recognised as the winner of the Businesswoman of the Year award.
Mr Cyprianos was elated after receiving the award saying this was a recognition of the efforts made to keep the family business afloat even at a time when the country is experiencing economic challenges.
“Winning the award was great and it shows the work we have put over the last 19 years have finally been recognised. I attribute winning this award to hard work and sheer determination coupled with the zeal of never giving up no matter the difficulties faced,” he said.
The Bulawayo-based electrical company manufactures and distributes electrical distribution boards and light fittings and supplies most of the wholesalers in the city and other parts of the country with electrical gadgets.
It also makes electrical distribution boards according to client specifications.
Mrs Stead was however, absent at the awards ceremony. She runs the safari lodge which is in the Unesco World Heritage Site of the Matobo Hills, situated only 45 kilometres from Bulawayo. Tucked away into an ancient Bushman’s shelter, Camp Amalinda was once voted in the top three Safari Lodges in Zimbabwe for 2010 and 2013
Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries and United Refineries Limited chief executive officer, Mr Busisa Moyo was honoured for being the Manager of the Year.
