- Nkosilesisa Ncube Sunday Life Reporter

RECENTLY crowned Miss Bulawayo-Harare, Michelle Neshamba has become the target of hate on social media, as trolls continuously lay waste to her character.

Social media trolls began taking jabs at her character, after a picture of her coronation was uploaded on Facebook.

Some questioned if she was capable to represent both cities

“. . . akulazaMiss Bulawayo lapha. There is nothing to hide, we don’t have Neshamba in Ndebele . . . ,” read one comment from a Dumoluhle Dube.

He then went on to express his distaste for other tribes.

This is when other trolls joined in to shred Neshamba’s persona.

The beauty queen was rescued by musician and radio personality TKP Zimhouse.

“This is not necessary bhudi. Whatever problems you think you have are not her responsibility. said,“What is Akukaze nje kwaba yinto eqondileyo ukuthuka omunye umuntu like this. Breathe, ok,” she wrote.

Speaking to Sunday Life, TKP said such behaviour was hindering the growth of the arts in the city.

“If we do not share these achievements as a city then Bulawayo will not grow. We need to support each other and while we may have differences, hating on someone for their achievement is just wrong,” said the musician.

Amid the attacks, Neshamba did not return any of the negativity directed towards her but when contacted for comment she said she was not bothered by the nasty remarks made about her.

“I do not mind what people are saying about me. I was born and raised in Bulawayo, I know who I am, where I come from and where I am going. I have been around jealous people my entire life and I choose not to let any of them bother me,” she said.

Neshamba was crowned Miss Bulawayo-Harare early this month, and beat 22 other girls from Bulawayo and Harare for the title.

She will assist in identifying contestants to send to the Miss Zimbabwe-Zambia pageant which will be held in December.
