Insp Goko said the two had a misunderstanding over an unnamed boyfriend while drinking beer at Chimuti Night club in Shurugwi.

“Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman from Gweru who killed a 22-year-old woman while drinking beer at a local night club in Shurugwi.

The suspect, Lucia Ncube stabbed Alice Phiri with a knife on the neck and on the ribs with the help of a male accomplice Lawrence Munyuki following a misunderstanding over a boyfriend.

On the said date, the two were drinking beer at Chimutri Night Club when a heated argument ensued over a boyfriend which degenerated into a fist fight,” he said.

Insp Goko said while arguing, Munyuki produced a knife and gave Ncube who then stabbed the now deceased Phiri twice on the neck and stomach.

“Following the attack Phiri fell on the ground unconsciously while bleeding profusely. She was rushed to Shurugwi District Ho s p i t a l where she was pronounced dead upon admission.

The matter was reported to police leading to Munyuki and Ncube’s arrest. The two are helping police with investigations,” he said.

Insp Goko urged members of the public to always engage a third party whenever they have a misunderstanding than resorting to violence as it might lead to avoidable loss of life.

A source at the night club who preferred anonymity alleged that Phiri had snatched Ncube’s regular client, a gold panner who was flaunting his money on the day in question.
