Techfest comes to Bulawayo

SCIENCE and technology fanatics are in for a treat this month with the annual technology festival for Southern Africa running in Bulawayo between 15 and 19 November at Rainbow Hotel.

The Tech Fest as it is popularly known is an annual event run by the Tech Village that introduces and acquaints attendants with tech knowledge and innovation­s that may aid industries in the future.

The Tech Fest brings together entreprene­urs, public and private sector businesses as well as investors and financiers to discuss key issues surroundin­g technology in Africa and understand the state of entreprene­urship and entreprene­urship.

This is the first time the event is running over a number of days and the five-day festival is open to members of the public, creatives, markers, bloggers and corporate are among the list of expected participan­ts.

Funded by South African company, Big Time Investment­s, this year’s Tech Fest runs under the theme, Collaborat­ive Brilliance: Together Towards Tomorrow.

Some of the highlights of the festival are lectures from renowned speakers, an overnight hackathon, and a workshop on tax.

All of this will be topped off by a neon party at the Rainbow Hotel rooftop to close off the festival.

Registrati­on details for the festival are available on the Tech Fest website and Facebook page and members of the public are encouraged to be part of the festival to enhance their technology skills.
