TOP Zambian bodybuilder, Sly Mwila is expected to take part in Mr Ironman Zimbabwe to be staged at Bulawayo Theatre on Saturday.

National Federation of Zimbabwe Body Building and Fitness, Quiet Shangai said preparations for the show were going well, with six times Mr Zambia, to grace line up in senior men bodybuilding. Mwila, a former Mr Southern Africa, recently took fourth spot at the Arnold Classic super heavyweight division.

“Preparations for Mr Ironman Zimbabwe are going very well. We are expecting Sly Mwila from Zambia, he has won Mr Zambia six times. He is also a former Mr Southern Africa and finished in fourth place in the super heavyweight division at the IFBB Arnold Classic,’’ said Shangai.

He believes that Mr Ironman Zimbabwe has a unique characteristic in that all the senior men have one line regardless of their weight.

“Ironman Zimbabwe has one unique characteristic in relation to the National Champions (Zim) although it is rated ‘national’. It has one senior men bodybuilding division. Heavyweights, lightweights, middleweights, lightweights in one line out,’’ Shangai said.

Simon Gama, the Bulawayo co-ordinator of Mr Ironman Zimbabwe said Clarion Insurance are the main sponsors of the event with their sponsorship covering prizes and hiring of the venue of the show. Gama said most of the Bulawayo bodybuilders are taking part in Mr Ironman Zimbabwe with the biggest names being Lovemore Munyamana and Shantel Greenland.

Last year’s winners were, Masimba Nyamajiwa for men’s fitness, Nunurai Masosonere the senior men bodybuilding open, Bruce Mukono the junior men Under-23 bodybuilding, Godwin Simbarashe Mhaka in men’s physique, Fern Roses in the women bikini fitness, Juliet Chimbodza in the women’s body fitness while Marko Mwale took the wheelchair men bodybuilding.
