Church Muziq to launch album online

- Samantha Dube Sunday Life Reporter

ANDILE Mkandla whose stage name is Church Muziq will launch a new album titled Black Sunday at the end of the month.

The album will be launched on the internet through an app called Habe Sound, a new music app that offers downloads, streaming and artistic profiling. It will also be available in hard copy at selected shops.

“I am so happy that I have finally completed my album and I’m ready to release it to the world. I have been quite busy lately working on this new album and now that it is finally completed I’m relieved,’’ he said.

Mkandla started composing songs in 2002 as he was inspired and mentored by the late Rap star Hechichamunorwa Mt Zion Kwenda. Church Muziq was discovered by veteran theater scriptwriter and author professor Stephen Chifunyise and his late wife Tisa who in turn introduced him to Chipawo, a Unicef sponsored children’s programme. Here, he met the underground sound studios owner, David Chifunyise and a Flaimz Mastaz record was born.

Church Muziq possesses a pure rap accent and an extra ordinary rhyming technique which has through the years sharpened tremendously as a result of numerous exhibits and a string of guest appearances on urban records. His association in Mizchif and David has helped enhance his sudden popularity on the domestic scenes. Most of his songs were recorded in Harare.

“There are lots of sponsors in Harare as compared to Bulawayo. I had to stay in Harare for a while as I was busy with my music,” he said.

He also collaborated with Black Coffee of South Africa in the Miami South Africa Invasion. Mkandla said working with Black Coffee was an honour as he learnt a lot in the music industry.
