CINEMA enthusiasts and merrymakers alike are set for an intriguing treat during the first anniversary of Redcliff-based prominent recreational venue, Garden 33, where a variety of activities have been lined up.

Co-proprietor of the leisure spot, Nothando Ncube told this publication that preparations for the impending anniversary were at an advanced stage and added that the main attraction will see merrymakers getting a rare open-air garden entertainment experience.

“We are calling upon merrymakers who have travelled with us for the past amazing 12 months to come and celebrate with us on this great day. We will be televising a chosen movie on a big screen and people can watch from the lush, green surroundings that typify the oneyear leisure facility,” she said.

Ncube said that they decided to concentrate on cinema, a pastime which, she says, needs rejuvenation from showbiz stakeholders in the country.

“We have realised that there has been a gap in cinema and most of present-day promoters are no longer eager to revive cinema in the country. Now we feel mandated to, at least, making a contribution towards the revival of cinema. It is in this regard that we have also decided to deviate from tradition and focus on cinema, instead of live musical shows for instance,” said Ncube.

Meanwhile, the leisure facility is set to play host to a career seminar where revered Kwekweborn academic Maud Chifamba is expected to grace the occasion in the aftermath of the forthcoming first anniversary celebrations.
