Injuries hit Young Warriors camp

ZIMBABWE Under-20 men’s soccer coach, Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu will use today’s clash against Angola at Nkana Stadium, Kitwe in the final Group C match at the Mopani Mines Cosafa Under-20 Championship to prepare for the semi-final after having sealed qualification to the next stage with a game to spare.

Ndlovu said he will be giving other players that did not feature in the first two games a chance to shine and fight for a place in the semi-final. He said he is targeting to come up with his strongest squad as he aims to overcome the next hurdle on the way to the final.

“I will be giving other players an opportunity to feature in tomorrow’s (today’s) game so that I can pick the strongest squad for the semi-final on Tuesday. We managed to accomplish our initial target of going beyond the group stages and now that we are in the semi-final the aim is to win that match. We are taking each step as it comes,” he said.

Ndlovu said some of his star players that have played a central role in the team’s success so far, Delic Murimba and Tatenda Tumba have been hit by injuries and resting them would be proper. He said other players in the sick bay are McDonald Mukunga, Devine Mhindiriri and Blessing Nyamuzihwa. He attributed his side success thus far to unity of purpose, adding his charges have been playing as a unit, defending together while also moving together in attack. Ndlovu also said the defence has been solid while finishers have managed to grab chances they have created.
