Zimpapers continues making strides

-

THE Zimbabwe Newspapers Group (1980) Ltd held its end of year party in Bulawayo on Friday as a way of celebrating the achievements the company has accomplished throughout the year despite the challenging economic environment.

In his remarks, Digital and Publishing division General Manager Mr Marks Shayamano applauded the workers for the good work they put throughout the year.

“The reason for the party is to thank you for the good work that you have done throughout the year. We started with a target that was to be profitable, to make sure that our salaries come through early or on time. Then the other thing was to make sure that what you had requested for, was fulfilled and we were able to do it. We managed to do some small adjustments and still remained profitable, in all these things we did well,” he said.

Chronicle editor Mr Innocent Madonko praised management for hosting a combined end of year party for all workers.

“I am very happy that we managed to have an end of year party where all departments are represented. This is the first time we are having a combined party like this one. In the past we used to have each department having their own party but for the first time we have come together as a branch and it’s going to enhance our unity,” he said, adding that employees get to know each other better through such interactions.

A workers’ representative, Mr Sikhumbuzo Moyo thanked the company for being sensitive to the plight of its workers.

“We want to thank management here present and senior management at head office for being sensitive to the plight of workers. We managed to get a bonus well ahead of time and we hope to continue from where we left as we begin the new year, in terms of profitability, hard work and the company also taking good care of its most valuable assets, which are workers,” he said.
