Midlands receives more Presidential inputs

-

THE Midlands Province has received more farming inputs for this summer cropping season under the Presidential Input Support Scheme targeting more than 300 000 households in the communal farming areas.

Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube said the province had received another consignment under the Presidential Input Support Scheme which was being distributed to communal farmers throughout the province.

Eng Ncube said the consignment was an addition to some of the inputs that were distributed earlier this year ahead of the summer cropping season.

Farmers started receiving inputs as early as June in a move designed to enable them to be fully prepared for the summer cropping season.

Eng Ncube said more than 300 000 families in the province were set to benefit from the Presidential Input Support Scheme.

“As a province we have received another consignment under the Presidential Input Support Scheme. The farmers are already receiving the inputs. The input support scheme is a continuous programme and farmers continue to receive the inputs. We have urged our leadership and those responsible to ensure that the inputs quickly get to the farmers.

“We are targeting about 300 000 households in the province. The idea is to ensure that we are food secure at household level,” he said.

Eng Ncube said the Presidential Input Support facility was meant for every Zimbabwean and should not be distributed along party lines.

“Distribution of inputs is done through Government. We are warning all those who have propensity to abuse the inputs to desist from such habits or risk reprisals. President Mnangagwa has emphasised the need to eradicate corruption. So there is no room for corruption or nepotism. These inputs are being given to everyone regardless of political affiliation.

“Our President has emphasised on the need to eradicate poverty and avert hunger and it is incumbent upon us to complement him and Government in this vision,” he said.
