Sunday band life a catch
GUITARIST and vocalist Harare-based Silent Nqo left an indelible mark in Bulawayo as he performed at a local nightspot last Sunday.
As a guest artiste to Band Fusion’s Sunday night gigs, their collaboration left the crowd in awe as they performed legendary hit songs.
Songs from late music icon and national hero, Dr Oliver Mtukudzi that include Todini, Bvuma Wasakara, Neria among others proved that they will always be memorable in the entertainment life as the audience sang along remembering one of the greatest musicians to grace the country’s music scene.
As a way of celebrating Bulawayo football giants Highlanders’ last Sunday afternoon win, Lovemore Majaivana’s song Tshilamoya was all buzz in the club accompanied by an energetic sing-along atmosphere.

Coming to the solo band members fete, Silent Nqo proved that like wine he matures over the years as he gave a rhythmic role adding energy to the groove of the songs by playing other than the downbeat of every measure through his electric guitar. Paul Maseko on the bass guitar added depth to guitar riffs, and helped the drummer Lungile Ndlovu and sound engineer Erastus Nleya to establish the rhythm of the song with the vocals led by Langa and the only outfit’s girl member, the sexy Delukes.
Pianist Jayjay Banda and auxiliary keyboardist talented Prince Joel Nyoni collaborated to give the much needed feel in any jazz or pop concert.
Speaking after the show, Band Fusion spokesperson Maseko said it was a good experience sharing the stage with a talented and nationally recognised musician.
“As we want to create unity among bands in the country, I feel what we did today was just amazing by having an artiste from as far as Harare. Knowingly that the artiste is nationally recognised and having to share the stage with him is quite an opener for us as a group which has international ambitions,” said Maseko.
The group is preparing a nationwide tour as a way of increasing their fan base.
