ADEPT online comedy sensation Ray Vines (real name Melusi Chiripowako) is working on a movie titled Culture which is set to unpack the sundry cultures found in the country.

The movie set to be released and launched nationwide in July. Already some of the scenes have been shot in Gweru where the Shona culture is portrayed.

Speaking from his educational base at Midlands State University in Gweru, Ray Vines said he was inspired to produce the movie Culture in a bid to market the country’s culture to the world.

He said the movie was shot by his video company Mukukuzvi

X Crame and features up and coming actors like Paidamoyo Manyawu and Kimberly Tachiveyi among others.

“The idea is for me as an artiste to be able to express and advocate for cultures found in Zimbabwe. In the movie, there will be scenes portraying the cultures of the Tonga, Kalanga, Ndebele, Shona and white people just to mention a few. The message behind Culture is to instil confidence for people to be proud of their culture as we also celebrate 40 years as a nation this year. We have shot in Gweru and we will be going to other places countrywide to cover the country’s rich and diverse culture.”

Ray Vines last year managed to make a name for himself as the co-hosted the Victoria Falls Carnival. His brand Mukukuzvi was recently registered as a company as the 19-year-old comedian moves a notch further to tap into the diverse media industry.
