Zanu-PF cyber team exhibits Second Republic success stories

- Rutendo Nyeve Sunday News Correspondent

INSPIRED by the notion that enlightenment leads to appreciation, the ruling Zanu-PF party cyber team affectionately known as Varakashi4ED yesterday took their countrywide ED works road shows to Bulawayo where they exhibited numerous success stories of President Mnangagwa and the Second Republic.

The cyber team first launched the road shows in Harare and will spread across the country with the aim of disseminating the good works which the Government is doing.

The team disseminated the information in three ways which included a public lecture which was held at a local college, a road show around the city as well as the use of social media. Speaking on the sidelines of the public lecture, Chitepo School of Ideology principal Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said there was a need to put out what President Mnangagwa was doing for the country.

“This is a social media or cyber team which portrays the positive work which the President and the Second Republic are doing in the country. These works include development of infrastructure, stabilising the economy and various other fields. This team has various responsibilities with the first being to respond to negative narratives that will be circulating on social media and give the correct accurate perspective of what will be going on. The other task is to make sure that the wonderful work that is being done around the country is highlighted and is circulated in the social media and by exhibiting pictures of projects on a road show like what they are doing here in Bulawayo,” he said.

Cde Machacha said social media was now playing a pivotal role in information dissemination hence the need to have a strong cyber team with good ideological standing.

“As you know that today’s election campaigning and information dissemination generally is being dominated by social media. Some call it citizen journalism. Hence it is equally important to have a team that will promote those good ideas and correct falsehoods that have been passed on to the general public. Information dissemination is always thought from an ideological position.

“Propaganda is either for the imperialists or for the trailing masses so it depends from which position you are speaking. We believe that these young people should know the ideological standing of Zanu-PF and Zimbabwe so that when information is sent to the public, they can quickly discern whether it is negative or positive information,” said Cde Machacha.

Varakashi 4ED national chairperson, Cde Jones Musara also reiterated the team’s desire to cascade information to the grassroots of the nation.

“Today we are having ED works road show here in Bulawayo. We launched it in Harare and we are going to each and every province with the intention to cascade to constituencies, wards and villages. The purpose being to increase public awareness and appreciation of ED’s work. We believe that enlightenment leads to appreciation and appreciation will help mobilise five million votes for Zanu-PF,” said Cde Masara.

The event was attended by hundreds of Zanu-PF supporters as well as empowerment lobby groups that included Affirmative Action Group. - @nyeve14
