- Mehluli Sibanda Senior Sports Reporter

HARARE-BASED Jealous Nguringa won the Best Male Player while Rodnah Mutasa took the women’s honours at the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority @10 Golf tournament held at the Bulawayo Golf Club on Friday.

Nguringa and Mutasa each won golf bags, two nights’ accommodation for two people at a Cresta Hotel, glass shields and 5kg gas tanks.

Other notable winners at the golf tournament were former Zimbabwe international rugby player Jafet Ndebele who won the longest drive on Hole 14 and came fifth best overall.

From the professional golfers, Peter Banda went home with the cash prize of US$100 and 50 litres of fuel from Energy Park.

Prizes were presented by the guest of honour, Pro-Vice Chancellor at the National University of Science and Technology Dr Eng William Goriwondo together with Zera chief executive officer Edington Mazambani and the regulator authority’s board member Thembelani Ncube.

The well sponsored tournament was used by Zera for the purposes of engaging with stakeholders in the Matabeleland region as well as to raise funds for the Albinism Association, with a specific attention on Matabeleland North. Sanders Munsaka, a representative of the Albinism Association of Zimbabwe Matabeleland chapters presented a speech at the prize awards ceremony. Participants were required to pay ZWL$70 000 per four ball, which covers green fees and lunch. A four-ball format is when a pair of golfers form a team and whichever of the pair makes the better score on each hole counts as the team score for that hole.
