African History teachers to meet

TEN African countries are expected to attend the annual Zimbabwe History Teachers Associatio­n annual conference set for the end of August.

The conference will run from 25 to 27 August in Harare, with representa­tives from Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

The president of the History Teachers Associatio­n of Zimbabwe in Kwekwe, Mr Manners Msongelwa, said the conference will be officially opened by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Dr Eveline Ndlovu.

“The conference will run under the theme ‘the 21st century history teacher and the reconstruc­tion of African history’.

“The conference aims to bring together History teachers and lecturers across Africa.

“It further focuses on providing an open critical discussion through impacting 21st century skills and competenci­es in the constructi­on of African history,” he said.
