FORMER Highlanders players, to be coached by the legendary Madinda Ndlovu will be the major attraction at the Masiyephambili Junior School’s Family Fun Day to be held at the school on Saturday.

After a two-year hiatus caused by the Covid19 pandemic, the family fun day makes a return on Saturday. In the past, the event was graced by the late former Highlanders chairman, Ernest “Maphepha” Sibanda.

On Saturday, Ndlovu will take charge of a team of ex-Bosso stars that include Colsen Mabeza, Douglas “British” Mloyi, Peter “Oxo” Nkomo, Mayfield Daka, Castro Ndebele, Johannes Tshuma, Simon Sibanda, Joel Luphahla and Alexander Phiri. They will take on other social soccer teams made up of parents and teachers.

It promises to be an exciting day of sporting action with 10km, 7km and 5km races for parents. Also lined up for the day is tug of war, inter-house netball for mums and inter-house soccer for dads. Masiyephambili have invited Wellton, Rhodes Estate Preparatory School and Centenary for inter-schools sports that include soccer, netball, hockey and rugby.

Zenzo Siwela, a member of the organising committee said Saturday should be an exciting day.

“Come and support us in this worthy cause, come and enjoy with your family members. We have invited parents to take part in the various activities lined up for the day,’’ said Siwela.

The school is this year using the event to raise funds to complete the car park paving.
