Key stakeholders formulate Zifa strategic plan
KEY stakeholders will be involved in coming up with the Zimbabwe Football Association strategic plan, Zifa’s strategic committee chairperson Alois Masepe has said.
Masepe outlined that there is a need to come up with the crucial stakeholders who will make submissions for Zifa’s strategic plan. He was speaking during the committee’s inaugural meeting in Bulawayo yesterday. Other members of the committee are Pithias Shoko, Nhamo Tutisani, Nhlanhla Dube, Memory Mbondiya, Andrew Tapela, Kennedy Ndebele, Marc Duvillard, Theresa Maguraushe, Morris Banda, Moses Chunga and Nobioth Magwizi. The committee was recently appointed by the Zifa board.
“The position we have taken is that the strategic plan must be formulated with active participation and involvement of key stakeholders including the members of the Press. We are going to identify the key stakeholders in our football and we are going to form thematic teams that will interrogate our situation and come up with a view to say what type of Zifa do you want to see,’’ said Masepe.
He indicated that they were in Bulawayo to come up with a roadmap prior to rolling out the process of coming up with the strategic document.
“We are here to come up with a roadmap based on the rollout, how are we going to be rolling out this strategic plan process, it’s one of the missing links that was at Zifa, it’s an important development but the purpose of this meeting is not to formulate the strategic plan but to formulate the rollout plan and how are we going to be managing the assignment,’’ he said.
Zifa acting chief executive officer Xolisani Gwesela stated: “As you are all aware, Zifa has been operating without direction, without any strategic plan, with the last strategic plan having expired in 2018 so over the years we have been operating without a strategic plan and in terms of corporate governance that is not acceptable. We need to come up with a strategic plan that guides our activities and our own operations,’’ said Gwesela.
In appointing the strategic committee two weeks ago, the Zifa executive committee, led by interim president Gift Banda noted with great concern that Zifa has, for a long time, been operating without strategic direction and resolved to set up the structure to come up with a long-term strategic plan which will guide the association’s activities and operations and consequently aid in growing football while producing competitive national teams.
