- Mehluli Sibanda Senior Sports Reporter

ZIFA Southern Region Division One log leaders Hwange pressed on with their quest for an early return to the Premier Soccer League when they defeated Mosi Rovers 1-0 at Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls, the same day second placed ZPC Hwange won 2-0 against CIWU at Luveve Stadium’s B-arena.

Shepherd Gadzikwa scored the only goal of the match with five minutes to go and Chipangano held on for their 22nd win of the season.

After the win, Hwange moved to 69 points while their neighbours are on 64. Third placed Arenel Movers returned to winning ways, 2-1 victorious over Indlovu Iyanyathela at White City Stadium to move to 60 points.

FC Talen Vision continued to cement their fourth position with a 1-0 win over Mountain Climbers, which took Lizwe Sweswe’s men to 55 points.

Meanwhile, in the Zifa Central Region, the curtain comes down on the league with Sheasham and TelOne in it to win it. Sheasham, coached by John Nyikadzino enjoy a threepoint advantage at the top of the log and take on Loss Control in Zvishavane. TelOne, under the mentorship of Tendai Chikuni face Vumbachikwe in Gweru.

All Sheasham need is a draw and they would have secured a ticket to the PSL as a loss and a win for TelOne means disaster.

In 2019, Sheasham lost out on promotion to Whawha despite having led for the better part of the season. Heading into the final round of fixtures then, Sheasham had a two points lead over Whawha but lost 1-0 to Dulibadzimu United while their title rivals saw off Shabanie Mine 2-0 to gain promotion.
