The law of honour & pathways

-

GREETINGS beloved nation in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Ladies and gentlemen it is God’s desire that we become fruitful and that we experience the fullness of life. God in his infinite wisdom has put in place spiritual laws and principles, spiritual patterns and systems for us to follow that will guarantee us desired results as children of God.

In the kingdom of God there are correct ways of doing things, so meaning there are pathways that guarantee us results. One such law in the kingdom of God is the law of honour. It was one of the most powerful principles to learn. We will discover in life that most failures in life can be traced to dishonour; dishonour to God, dishonour to men and dishonour to the principles of God.

In our daily walk we often use this word ‘honour’ without a true understanding of its meaning and its importance in our lives. The word ‘honour’ speaks of to ‘ discern, celebrate, reward the uniqueness, usefulness or excellence of someone or something’.

On the other hand ‘ dishonour’ speaks of to ‘trivialise the value, usefulness’; ‘to take for granted or to lightly esteem someone or something.’ So honour is the willingness to place value on someone or something. To honour is a choice that we have to make. In other words, honour is not a gift, there is nowhere in the bible where it speaks of the gift of honour. Honour is very powerful, it can open doors for you and grant you access. If you learn the law of honour there is no door that will remain permanently shut to you, in other ways it is a seed for access.

So meaning every time you desire access, you must sow the seed of honour. But who deserves to be honoured. I will mention key people who are deserving of honour. 1. God. The bible tells us in 1 Samuel 2:30 that God will honour people who honour him. God is ever deserving of our honour. 2. Parents. The bible tells us in Deuteronomy 5:16 to honour thy father and mother so that you may have long life. This means both biological and spiritual parents. The reason why many young people are not doing well in life or die prematurely is because they dishonour their parents. They speak anyhow and rudely to their parents and elderly people. 3. Spouses. 1 Peter 3:5-7. The bible tells us that spouses are to show honour one to another, so meaning the wife honours the husband and the husband honours the wife. 4. Authorities. Romans 13:1.

The bible tells us that we should submit ourselves to governing authorities because authorities that exist have been established by God. Authorities speaks of leadership above us. How many of us insult our bosses and those in authority and as a result sowing seeds of dishonour.

In fact, the bible didn’t say honour good people in authority, it says those in authority. 5. Men and women of God. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13. On the other hand, let us look at how dishonour works.

Dishonour is a seed for closed doors. We read in the book of Genesis 9:20-27 the story of Noah and his sons. Noah got drunk and one of his sons laughed at him and as a result he was cursed by Noah.

This was the result of dishonour. Some people are walking around carrying curses over their lives, some as a result of dishonour, let us check ourselves by the leading of the spirit. In the book of Numbers 12 we read about Miriam and Aaron and how they began to despise Moses and speak ill of him. God heard them and Miriam was hit with leprosy for dishonouring God’s servant Moses. Let us be careful of the things we say in the secret about God’s servants, God hears and sees everything that is done in the secret. People lose precious positions because of dishonour.

We read in Esther 1 how Queen Vashti dishonoured her husband and as a result she lost the powerful position of being a queen. So we realise that dishonour is dangerous. Ladies and gentlemen you cannot receive from a grace, person or platform that you do not honour.

There is something that is called familiarity which causes dishonour in people and this is found also among believers in some churches. When something becomes too available, too accessible we usually begin to demean, down grade or undervalue it. At times we do this consciously or unconsciously.

You see it is normal that the more we have access to something we begin to lose that element of valuing it. So we need to be careful as believers that we don’t become too familiar with the things of God. You see God being God the minute we begin to be too familiar with him, he will do something that will remind us that he is still God. You will discover that in some churches it is strangers that seem to be recipients of that grace because most people in that church don’t seem to receive from that grace. Why is that the case? The answer is familiarity.

When men and women of God are ministering outside of their churches they seem to deliver more and this is because they are welcomed and people receive from them. But back in their churches they are treated with familiarity. May God help us not to become familiar with the men and women of God he has placed over our lives, or less we will miss out on the graces they carry. When you honour a person, you receive from that grace. One thing you will notice in this world is that unbelievers have mastered honour.

They will go to any length to secure their tomorrow. They understand that honour opens doors and gives you access. So it is important to honour God, to honour men and to honour his principles because it is a mystery that is powerful.

When we apply this principle of honour it will unlock certain blessings and dimensions. There are certain doors in life that can only be opened by honour, that no amount of money can open. There are certain things that your gift or talent cannot not bring, but it is honour that will grant you access to those things. One man of God said a gifted rebel is not an assert in church, so people will judge you by your sense of honour and not by your giftings. When a leader learns how you honour them they will bring you closer but when you become too familiar with someone they will close that door and deny you access. May God bless you all.
