Elgiboh Guest Lodge offers exquisite luxury

- Charity Chikara

HOTELS strive to deliver a unique experience and leave a lingering memory on guests to enrich their lives. It is in this regard that in Bulawayo, one cannot help but notice Elgiboh Guest Lodge with its endeavour to enchant guests with “The Best Experience Under the Sun.”

Elgiboh is a Hebrew word that means “Mighty God”, and the lodge named so attests to the owners’ acknowledgement of God’s greatness.

Owned and managed by Mr Kholakele Ngwenya and his wife Sibonisiseni, the facility located 3km from the Bulawayo Centre Mall along Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street and 18km from Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport, Elgiboh Guest lodge is one of the outstanding executive accommodations in the City of Kings and Queens.

Within a 15km radius, guests are able to visit various tourist attractions such as the National Art Gallery, Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre, Khami Ruins, the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe, Tshabalala Wildlife Sanctuary among many.

Elgiboh Guest Lodge has since its inception hosted many guests and groups of all sizes and leisure travellers visiting and stopping over in Bulawayo, offering a unique style of Zimbabwean comfort blended with modernity and urban style.

The lodge offers local cuisine in its adjoining restaurant and features the most amount of flexible meeting and event space in its fully equipped adjoining conference centre that accommodates groups ranging from five to 120 people.

Each of the 12 luxurious executive guest rooms is designed for optimal rest and productivity with architectural framing, contrasting finishes and aesthetical solutions to enhance a guest’s stay, such as convenient wall outlets, lamp outlets and nightstands outfitted with USB ports for multiple electronic devices, luxurious bedding with fresh, clean cotton-rich linens and fluffy pillows, highspeed Wi-Fi and a small desk with a well-lit workspace, comfortable chair and plug-in panels.

Coupled with this are 32 inch flat-panel LED TVs with DSTV reception to keep guests well-entertained. In-room coffee/ tea bar and strategically placed mirrors, and a couch all complement the exclusive experience at Elgiboh Guest Lodge.

Growing from a humble idea to be what it is today, Mr Ngwenya mentions two key aspects: “Persistency and consistency” to have been the game changer in the remarkable growth of Elgiboh Guest Lodge.

“Like I said we started as a travel agency only concentrating on travel visa processing and then moved to include accommodation reservations for other facilities. We saw that there was a high demand for executive accommodation that outstripped supply and hence we came in and bridged the gap with our own facility which has enabled us to have full control on accommodation management for our clients,” said Mr Ngwenya.

To date, Elgiboh Guest Lodge is growing and diversifying its service delivery aiming for the top-spot in the hospitality industry.

All the growth has not been without help, the adage “behind every successful man there is a woman” is true in the success of Elgiboh Guest Lodge where his wife, Mrs Sibongiseni Ngwenya has been instrumental and a supportive co-partner in the development and management the facility.

“We have a wish to rope in our children in the business. However, I also believe that some are entrepreneurs by calling, some by training, some by discovery. We can’t all be entrepreneurs as much as we can’t all be employees.

“It’s all about discovering yourself, if you discover where you belong you enjoy what you do, you excel. There is nothing more fulfilling than passion, discovering your purpose. I encourage everyone who wants to venture into business to ask themselves ‘is this what I have been called to do’, don’t compete with anyone,” said Mrs Ngwenya.

“You can’t put a hippopotamus, crocodile, an elephant and a cow inside the water and order them to race. Some will excel because that’s their environment, and vice versa.”

The lodge owners acknowledge from experience that no one can hand anyone anything on a silver platter.

Elgiboh Guest Lodge as it stands

of attests to the value of hard work, authenticity, endurance and the flow of God’s blessings shown in its caring and noble staff members summing up to give guests a memory of a lifetime during their stay at the exclusive, beautiful facility.
