Modi gets down and dirty at fundraising
THE Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce and Member of Parliament for Bulawayo South constituency, Cde Raj Modi yesterday got down and dirty washing cars at a Forever Associates of Zimbabwe (FAZ) fundraiser in Bellevue.
Organised by the FAZ Bulawayo South constituency chapter, the event’s objective was to raise funds to support charity initiatives in the Constituency’s two wards, Ward 21 and Ward 6. The event also was also used to donate hampers with foodstuffs worth US$350 to seven vulnerable individuals and families from the two wards.
The seven beneficiaries each received hampers comprising 10kg of mealie-meal, 750ml of cooking oil, a tablet of bath soap, 2kg sugar, 4 x 2kg rice packs and 1kg of salt.
The guest of honour, Cde Modi said the event was in line with President Mnangagwa’s call for the party to assist the nations’ underprivileged and vulnerable members of society. He said FAZ was mandated by the President to provide social welfare and healthcare to all communities.
“Our President and First Secretary of our revolutionary party has been urging all Zimbabweans to be united and never leave anyone behind. FAZ is aware of problems faced by local communities and they have an obligation to take these problems all the way to the President. I am happy to see FAZ here to assist our elderly especially in availing health care to all. Take note that the President is always in Bulawayo to talk to Bulawayo and find out what challenges are being faced. So given that this is his initiative, we must all support this cause. The President insists that as a party we must listen to everyone, hear everyone’s problems and see that they are assisted,” he said.
FAZ Bulawayo South constituency chapter team leader, Cde Jasper Mawisire said: “The President’s philosophy of leaving no one behind is a very good initiative that is aimed at assisting all our vulnerable members of society. As FAZ Bulawayo South constituency chapter we decided to organise this event so that we can mobilise resources to carry through this mandate.” — @RealSimbaJemwa
