BULAWAYO businessman Borthwell Chen Nhire is excited about participating at the upcoming African Influencer Awards to be held on 29
October in the city.
The established businessman who is the director of Bidvest Engineering, Bidvest Chemicals and Asher Paints was nominated for Afrluencer Man of the Year category along with Jerry Nyazungu (The Chartered/M and J Consultants), Nkosana Mazibisa (Matlive Innovation Hub), Mduduzi Mdlongwa (3D Events) and Tonderai Shoko (Affluent Synergies). The award recognises the winning man for entrepreneurship and innovation as the backbone for community development.
“I am looking forward to being part of the African Influencer Awards and it will be my opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s business talent to the whole world. For me it’s not just about possibly winning an award or even being nominated. These awards are Bulawayo’s own showcase for the amazing talents available in every sphere of our society, be it in business or education, or innovation. Bulawayo has it all and I am happy that Nikky Mdluli and her AFRLUENCE Afrluencer R Media team have put together yet another amazing event,” Nhire said.
His firm, Asher Paints’ footprint in industry and infrastructure development has paid off with the company getting recognition at prestigious awards like the in the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Mines (ZNCC) awards.
The company has been crowned second runner up at the ZNCC business awards after coming second under the Best Emerging Business of the Year category last year. This year, the firm scooped the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Micro, Small to Medium Enterprises (MSMES) of the Year (2021) award.
The organisers of the upcoming African Influencer Awards have worked tirelessly to co-ordinate the event bringing together some of the country’s top entrepreneurs and influencers.
“The potential that start-ups have to solve some of the socio-economic problems in the country is unlimited. To offer a platform that recognises and rewards effort among youth entrepreneurs is what we are doing. We are hoping that the AIFAs as a brand can go beyond the borders of Zimbabwe, as this year we have managed to bring people from all over the country.
“We would like to facilitate collaborations, networking and exchanging of ideas among entrepreneurs so that this value they create can flow throughout the country and across Africa,” said Afrluencer Media chief executive, Nicollet Mdluli.
A new introduction to the awards is the Simbisa African Influencer Shields, which will begin its rotation from this year’s edition on wards, sponsored by Simbisa Brands. - @RealSimbaJemwa
