BULAWAYO start-up coaching company Emmah Incorporation held its inaugural high tea event which aimed at bringing out confidence in women within the community.

The event was held at Jairos Jiri Bulawayo Vocational Training Centre on 8 October under the theme; “Living the confident woman in you” and was graced by Pastor Marilynn Jangira, Pastor Anele Chirume and Founder Master Coach Edith Kasukuwere as panelists.

The high tea touched on issues to do with mental health and wellness, spirituality, motherhood, self-care, and awareness.

A high tea is a form of a meeting where ladies or men meet up over tea or snacks to discuss issues pertaining to their lives, celebrate a milestone, or just have a good time.

The origins of this event started in England in 1840, initially, it was a meal for the working class, taken standing up or sitting on stools, thus termed “high” with tea cakes, and scones served.

The local event is a brainchild of Kasukuwere, who is a 26-year-old rehabilitation technician and counsellor at Jairos Jiri Bulawayo Vocational Training Centre, a master certified life coach and mentor with International Coaching and Mentoring Foundation.

She has five books to her name, that is Kingdom Woman Speak, Impairment Diaries, Kingdom Woman Speak, Behind the Desk, Amy and Mindset.

“As an organisation, we aim at boosting confidence and helping the disabled feel they are part of a society that accepts them,” said Kasukuwere at the event.

The event was well attended by ladies from all walks of life, with Pastor Jangira and Pastor Chirume sharing teachings on spirituality, motherhood, self-care, and awareness while Kasukuwere did a talk on mental health and womanhood setting the house ablaze.

Cynthia Chieza inspired the attendees with her poetry on the day. Also on the day the Young Girls Movement was launched where Minenhle Duburo was appointed its first-ever ambassador.

The movement is expected to provide in-house services such as coaching and rehabilitation, writing, counselling, mentoring, graphics and media, confident women movement, youth confidence hub, community development, and partnerships.

Under its wings it also has two journals; The Confident Youth Journal and Confident Woman Journal, which are part of organisational efforts meant to help confident youths and women go through a self-discovery and personal development journey.
