Big guns post mixed results in Bulawayo Social League
ONE of the most popular stories in the bible is that of a small brave man called David who conquered giant Goliath using a sling.
What happened last Sunday in the Bulawayo Social Soccer League in a match featuring Pool B log leaders Ndola against Gwabalanda can be likened to that popular biblical contest. Like David, Gwabalanda humbled Ndola 2-1 to keep the race wide open with eight games to go and 24 points to fight for.
Vice Chairman of Gwabalanda Mavuto Banda was a happy man after the match.
“I am very happy for my boys. However, at times some of them don’t report on time for the games. This week we are playing against Lobengula away and I wish them luck,” said Banda.
Their nearest rivals Legends took advantage of that slip up by their nearest rivals Ndola and won 4-0 against Khami. The two teams are now separated by five points. Another team that almost got humbled by their opponents were the reigning Champions Stars who were served by a one all draw against Vula Vale.
Pool C log leader Bangane were made to look ordinary by Real Magwegwe as the two teams drew one all. A point now separates Bangane and their nearest rival Celtics.
For the Pool A log leaders Man it was business as usual after they fired 3-goals against one by 70 Combination. This win boasted their chances of being crown the best team in Pool A.
Today they are away against Fireworks at Luveve. And the battle for a place in the final continues starting at 11am this morning.
