DeMbare must have confidence in Lloyd Mutasa

- Felix Zonke, Harare.

EDITOR — Why give coaches interim appointments instead of trusting them by giving them the responsibility and power to be coaches for the long-term?

The extension of Lloyd Mutasa’s probation by a club he served with distinction, Dynamos FC, is no good news at all for the three time league winner, medallist who deserves a chance to fully lead one of the biggest clubs in the land.

Extending his probation shows how the DeMbare leadership lacks trust in Samaita, a loyal servant who just gave his all in the middle of the park during his playing career.

Maybe DeMbare is questioning the experience of Mutasa, but they forget that he once coached Kinglon FC as well as being the coach of DeMbare for a few days.

He was also the assistant coach of the national team as well as coach of one of the richest and biggest clubs, FC Platinum.

What more in terms of experience does the Dynamos FC leadership need to find in one of its loyal faithful sons?

The mere fact that Mutasa was once the assistant coach to the national team is more than enough to justify his worth in giving him a contract, not an extension of probation.

Dynamos FC is gambling and in the process testing to see if Mutasa is the right man for the job.

But that attitude has far reaching consequences because if better options come knocking on the doors of Mutasa and he goes, then there should be no one to blame except DeMbare itself for lacking trust and faith in Mutasa.

If they are not serious about Mutasa then it is important for them to find a new coach before it’s too late.

Confidence is an important aspect in the game for both players and coaching staff.
