“I am confident that this album will put me into another level”.

CHIMURENGA musician Weedman Mtanga has released a nine-track album titled “Chimurenga Resurrection 1”. Mtanga is optimistic that the album will do well considering the time he took to come up with meaningful compositions.

He started singing at the age of six when his late brother was singing with Thomas Mapfumo.

Weedman, who was inspired by Mapfumo, released his debut album in 2002.

“I recorded my first album in 2002, second album in 2004, and third album in 2008 which did not do quite well on the market.

I am hoping to receive good responses from this album because I spent a lot of time working on it” he said.

The Chimurenga musician said he was facing financial problems hence the delay of the release of this album.

Mtanga said “Money is a problem for me to release albums on time; I have to sing with my wife and children in order to reduce the cost.

“I am confident that this album will put me into another level”.

Tracks on the album are “Mwari Makanaka”, “Vana Vapera”, “Tarira”, “Nhamo”, “Simukai”, “Chirimunyemba”, “Wako Ndewako”, “Maidei” and “Mambo”.

He said “Nhamo” and “Mwari Makanaka” are based on his personal experiences and his persona.

“The two songs talks about the way I grew up and how God has helped me to sail through the ups and downs of life.

He is planning on releasing a video for one of the songs in a couple of months.

“I will have a video for one of the two songs as a way of explaining my personal experience in a couple of months,” he added.
