Streak perfect for Chevrons job

-

EDITOR — Former Chevrons skipper Heath Streak can be the “saviour’’ of the Zimbabwe national cricket team if he is appointed to fill the vacant post of head coach.

Zimbabwe Cricket recently parted ways with Dav Whatmore and given his vast impressive experience and impressive career record, there is no doubt that Streak deserves a chance at the helm of local cricket.

Our Chevrons have the potential to upset and be ranked among the very best cricket playing nations in the world.

Although not easy, the feat is achievable especially now that we have put in place plans to play against cricket heavyweights like Pakistan and New Zealand.

Giving the former Chevrons skipper or captain the chance to “plough back’’ his experience for the good of our Chevrons is noble.

Callisto Pasuwa, the current national soccer team coach, is a former player of Dynamos as well as having earned a few caps for the Warriors and ZIFA appointing him as the coach of our Warriors.

Pasuwa repaid that faith by guiding them to their third AFCON appearance.

The spirit, the love for his national team and the bond with the fans should drive Streak and be his inspirational tool. We support and wish the new bond would succeed if ZC sticks to its plans of bringing him in as Whatmore’s successor. Felix Zonke, Harare.
