Brilliant Warriors made us proud, but can do more

-

EDITOR — Despite missing a golden chance to collect all the three points during their first AFCON match, the Warriors showed that there is no huge difference between the powerhouses and underdogs.

After taking the lead, we had all hoped that we had secured the much needed three points, but endurance got the best of us and we faltered.

Drawing against a team of Algeria’s stature was of course the best result we could have hoped for, but we did not go to Gabon to make up the numbers neither are we there by chance.

Allowing the Algerians to come back into the game especially during the closing minutes of the game should ring some tactical bells to Pasuwa.

Someone needs to remind him that the best way to maintain a lead is through pressing the opponents.

That aside, the way the team performed showed that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel.

We really showed that we can out-com-pete even the best sides on the continent.

It is never easy to come back from behind especially against a big team like Algeria, but our Warriors did not give the Algerians unnecessary respect.

They held their own despite the fact that the team had lost a key player in Knowledge Musona.

The tournament is still underway and tense battles await the team.

Instead of focusing on the lost two points the team should keep focused until the end.

We should stop blaming players and the coach.

Our focus should be on motivating the squad; the journey is far from over.

After drawing with Algeria who were tipped by pundits to top the group, other teams are now sacred of our gallant Warriors.

Go Warriors Go. Felix Zonke, Harare.
